What is Community Voice?
Community Voice is a new strand of the Financial Inclusion Commission’s work. Instead of relying only on statistics and stakeholder submissions, we’re building direct, ongoing relationships with individuals, community groups and organisations who see financial exclusion up close.
Everyone who registers will be kept informed about relevant opportunities to contribute, from a single survey to sustained involvement across several roundtables.
Who can get involved
Community Voice is open to anyone with an interest in financial inclusion —
however you’d like to take part.
-
Individuals
People with lived experience of financial exclusion, and/or an expertise in one or more of the issues in this area.
-
Community groups & charities
Community groups, charities, faith groups and other voluntary organisations working with affected communities.
-
Organisations & partners
Social enterprises, Disabled People's Organisations, Community Interest Companies and other organisations already active in this space.
How you’ll be involved
Once you’ve registered, we’ll match opportunities to your interests and time. These are the main ways people take part:
Roundtables & Workshops
In person across the UK, or online, sharing your experience directly with Commissioners and partnering organisations.
Surveys
Quick, online structured ways to share your views on specific issues as they arise.
Case Studies
Help illustrate the real-world impact of financial exclusion, and the change that’s needed.
Research Projects
Contribute to the evidence base that underpins the Commission’s recommendations.
Your Questions, Answered
-
Fill out our ‘Community Voices’ form linked at the top and the bottom of this page with as much information as you are happy to provide us. This will allow us to get in touch with you when relevant engagement opportunities arise.
-
When you sign up you will provide your preferred email address. You will hear about opportunities to engage either through our ‘Community Voice Network’ newsletter, or through a direct email invitation offering you an opportunity to engage.
-
Our Community Voice initiative is voluntary. However we recognise that there are many potential barriers to effective engagement. Where there is an identified barrier due to accessibility and/or travel we will endeavour to cover pre-agreed and arranged costs.
-
When hosting in-person engagement opportunities, accessibility for travel, venue access and dietary restrictions are fully considered. A budget for travel expenses when pre-arranged and agreed will be available, as will accessibility adjustments such as British Sign Language, captioning and other accessibility tools to allow for equitable engagement.
Where possible we will endeavour to provide hybrid options, and when this is not possible, online only engagement opportunities will be held in equal weight.
We welcome any requests for making our communication and engagement process more accessible, please email rachael@financialinclusioncommission.org.uk.

The Financial Inclusion Commission strongly believes in the power and the role of the UK community to directly inform the issues faced in financial exclusion.
We work through an equity lens approach, centring lived experience. Your responses to our engagement opportunities, whether through surveys, roundtables, workshops or events will form part of a tapestry of lived-experience led expertise in the area of financial exclusion and the opportunities in financial inclusion.
Any information we collect from you, we will also agree directly with you on how we use it, attribute it and share it.
“With the right sense of urgency and commitment to collaborative action, financial exclusion can be halved within ten years.”
Sian Williams, Chair, Financial Inclusion Commission
